Terminalogy

When looking at most notebooks I can't help but think that these machines are still big and clunky. Of course the answer is that we still require them to contain everything necessary to act as a proper workstation.
But when looking at products with features like the Macbook Air and the PS3 and applications like Google Docs, online mail/storage and the Folding@Home project (which are client-server based), then why are we still dragging those big notebooks with us?

Why aren't we at the point yet where devices do not need a huge amount of processing power, loads of storage or DVD drives. Everything is available online, even CPU power. Just imagine terminals for everything! That would save a lot of space in your device. Not just that, how about battery power? Not powering hard drives, dvd drives and all that other BS that is not a local necessity should be removed!

We need smart machines that use eachothers utilities and are ubiquitous!
...and keep working for ages!
