Browse on feeling

I just got myself an iPod Classic 160GB :) I now have all my music with me and it's all shiny and beautiful too! *yay*

The only thing is that, now I have al my music with me, I tend to browse through my library for ages when I'm not sure what artist to listen to. *argh*
I've got so much choice that I don't know what to listen to... So frustrating!

So a friend and I got to talk about managing our music via playlists, ranking, genres etc etc. I told him that I'm rediscovering artists and albums now I use the "shuffle mode within a genre" a lot more. It's sometimes a nice surprise to hear really good music that yu didn't even know you had!
But it still doesn't help you finding what you need to hear when you don't know what to listen to (and dont want to hear all the familiair stuff).

We agreed that there needs to be a way to sort music on a feeling, emotion or situation etc and I got the idea to use colors for this. Colors and maybe shapes (round or edgy) are always closely related to a state of mind or a situation (think of Valentines day or Halloween). I don't really care which artist to listen to, as long as it fits my mood. (and of course you'd still see the artists name etc)

I wonder if there have been experiments regarding colorcoding instead of album art..
